Justin Robinson
Design & Social Media Portfolio

Welcome
Hi, I'm Justin. Before becoming a website designer I spent 7 years pursuing a career of art and music. Graphic design and social media management skills were critical to sustaining myself as an independent artist. Studying website design allowed me to improve on the foundations I'd already built in a more formalized, structured way.
In this portfolio I've gathered some of my best graphic design and social media samples that display a variety of styles and formats. I'm happy to discuss any of these pieces in greater detail and answer any questions you may have.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
With gratitude,
Justin Robinson

Art by Shiva J
Shiva Jafarzadeh is an Iranian-American artist. My objective with this site was to create a professional presentation of Shiva's work. A minimalist, gallery-inspired design steps out of the way to let the artworks shine.
Notable design elements:
- Monochromatic style places emphasis on the artworks.
- Light/dark mode toggle feels contemporary and smart.
- Sharp corners signal professionalism and luxury.
- Email list signup utilizes artist's artwork for a personal touch.
- Drawn-line elements reflect the artist's style for a unique, personal touch.

Jessica Cooper Dance
Jessica Cooper is a belly dancer, fire performer and dance instructor. Our objectives were to promote Jessica's classes to potential students, to promote her live performances to locals, and to promote herself as a performer to venues and promoters.
Notable design elements:
- Highly stylized design respectfully draws inspiration from the countries from which belly dance originates.
- Gold with jewel tone color palette inspired by Jessica's own costumes and performance.
- A diverse range of shapes and imagery reflects the range of styles Jessica performs and teaches.

Rob Ashe, LMFT
Rob Ashe is a licensed marriage and family therapist from Northern California. Our objective was to present his practice and approach to prospective clients.
Notable design elements:
- Gently rounded corners reflect approachability, while maintaining professionalism.
- A natural color palette features earthy browns that represent his grounded approach, as well as shades of green that represent the growth clients experience.
- Ample use of white space and clear visual hierarchy creates a sense of calm.

Artist Handout — 6" × 9"
This handout was created for an art exhibition where Justin's artworks were on display. The objective was to create a physical handout that represented his artworks and included information about the artist that visitors could easily carry home.
Notable design elements:
- Clear visual hierarchy draws the reader's attention to help them find the relevant information.
- Emphasis on the artworks ensures visitors will recall the pieces they saw in person.
- Glossy cardstock chosen to emphasize the high contrast in the artworks.

Web Designer Business Card
This business card was designed to promote Justin's web design business. The overall design reflects the emphasis on white space and visual hierarchy that are representative of the brand.
Notable design elements:

- The back demonstrates the minimal aesthetic of the brand with careful attention to visual hierarchy.
- A small ribbon on the right side utilizes the brand colors to elevate the design and provide visual intrigue.

Fluid Event Poster
To promote Justin's live electronic sound baths, vertical videos function as an electronic poster with moving psychedelic visuals created by the artist playing in the background.
This template was reused to much success, providing information about new events with a fresh, unique appearance each time.
Dr. Bergemann had previously worked with an SEO agency to improve his site visibility. They created new pages for his site targeting specific keywords, and repeated those keywords again and again. In theory, it would boost his presence in search engines.
The result? The pages were nearly unreadable to the actual humans who would find them.
We came in and gave those pages a makeover. Plus, we completely redesigned his homepage to better connect with potential clients who land there.
While we specialize in building websites from scratch, we can help clean up and improve your existing site built in Wordpress, Squarespace, Wix, etc.

Demonstration
This video demonstrates using a piece of technology, the Elgato Stream Deck, in a unique way. A split-screen view shows the device in the lower third of the screen, while captions sit in the middle without obscuring either subject.
This post performed particularly well with users interested in music and technology.
So excited to be sharing some of my musical and visual creations at the @emerging.artists.alliance Resonance show and @mtrypearlworks third anniversary party!
If you are in the Monterey area, come out and see some incredible local art and enjoy some food and music.
In addition to the generative art and music, I'll also have a very limited selection of prints available.
